Left4Dead: create Transparent animated sprays

Creating static sprays with transparancy

- preperation
1. create new image in photoshop -> 256x256px with transparent background . then you can add any images you want on top of it.
2. save as .png

- Creating static sprays with transparancy
1. download VTF Edit here Nem's Tools [VTFLib - Download - VTFEdit v1.2.5 Full]
2. install VTF Edit.
3. run VTF Edit,
4. File -> Import
5. on"VTF Options", go to "general" tab.
6. uncheck "mipmap",
normal format : DXT 1,
Alpha DXT 5,
texture type : Environment map

click "OK"

7. file -> save as, to save your new spray (.VTF)
8. run L4D and go to multiplayer option touse the spray (press t to spray)

Creating animated sprays with transparancy

- need to know
max resolution is 256x256pixels. max filesize is about 256kKB. if you exeed on of these, your spray wont be displayed.
if you want to make animated sprays from animated gif, you can split the .gif frame by frame to individual .png.
You can use Ulead GIF animator, Acdsee ad many other apps

4. File -> Import, then select all the frames.
5. at "VTF Options", go to "general" tab.

8. run L4D then choose your animated sprays

Moving NXE update from Memory Unit (MU) to HDD
Moving NXE update from HDD to MU :)

if you installed NXE on MU, then you buy HDD from XBOX storage solution or somewhere..
you maybe want to free the MU from that big NXE update.

here what you need to do

TO MOVE NXE FROM MU to HDD.

1. turn off your Xbox 360
2. plug the new HDD. unplug the MU.
3. turn on the xbox 360, when connected to LIVE it will re-download the
NXE contents to HDD.

4. after all downloaded. plug MU.
5. go to system, memory.
6. copy your data from MU to HDD. then format your MU....
7. copy back your data to MU.

the NXE data like the intro video, avatar application, all are hidden
from the "memory" menu. the only way to remove it is by format the
MU.

Repair Xbox 360 gamepad #2 : turn off by itself / loosing connection

If your Xbox 360 wireless gamepad got randomly turn off by itself or loosing connection, this guide will tell you how to fix it.

if this not fix your gamepad, try this guide

1. remove the battery compartment from the gamepad.
2. cut some thick doubletape. about the same size as the metal thing.
3. stick it to the metal thing.

as an alternative,
you can use cardboard paper, Styrofoam, plastic or any thick thing to be placed on that metal thing.

Repair Xbox 360 gamepad : turn off by itself

If your wireless Xbox 360 gamepad got randomly turn off by itself, this guide will tell you how to fix it.

Tools needed.

How to make sure the problem lies on the Battery compartment or the "coil".
- Turn on your X360 wireless gamepad
- slap the gamepad. (or toss it aroud :D)

If it OFF, follow the next step.
If its still ON. This guide won't fix your gamepad.

FIX.1
Repairing the Battery Compartment


- Remove the batteries from the battery compartment.
- Press both sides until it pop open.

- If it wont pop open, use the pliers.
Put the pliers on one battery slot.
Just keep force it until it breaks.

Insert a flat screwdriver head to here.

- Just lift the sliver plate until it touch each other.

- Assamble the battery compartment.
- Secure it with tape. i suggest use thin tape.

This should fix it.
If the problem still persist.
follow the next step.

FIX.2
Repairing the "coil" connection to mainboard.

- Dissamble the gamepad by removing all the screws. Use the flat-head screw.
- There one (1) screw hidden behind a sticker.
- re-solder the conductor (spiral, coil, thingy).
